Vanessa Yanow is a Canadian artist, currently working out of Montreal. She works predominantly with mixed media, incorporating glass, textiles, and other materials. Her work alludes to contemporary social themes involving consumerism and excess, yet these works in themselves are often bright and colorful, with quirky and arresting design. Throughout her life, Yanow has traveled the world, learning about new artistic media along the way. Though originally trained in two-dimensional art, Vanessa has incorporated both glasswork and African dyeing techniques to her work in addition to a wide range of other artistic media. In addition to the artwork that Yanow creates for exhibition, she also creates glass jewelry, which is sold at galleries and boutiques. These jewelry pieces, like Yanow’s artworks, are colorful, playful, and vibrant. Her jewelry has also been featured in fashion and art magazines such as ELLE Quebec. Yanow has exhibited all over the world: Canada, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
