Vampirefreaks.com is an online community for the Gothic/Industrial subculture, and surrounding topics. It was created by site owner, Jethro Berelson (Jet) in 1999. it began small, with a small number of forums dedicated to gothic/industrial music but has gained high popularity in recent years in the gothic community circle and the site eventually grew. Controversy Vampirefreaks has been linked to several violent crimes, including a triple homicide in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. A 12 year old girl and her 23 year old boyfriend, who she met on Vampirefreaks.com, were charged in the murders.. A murder-suicide at Dawson College in Montreal was linked to the website. Additionally, two Toronto men were chared with carrying out the bidding of a woman they mat on the site by stabbing a 12-year-old boy 73 times, killing him. The site has also been linked an arson in Minnesota and to rapes of underage women in New York and Texas. |
