Valerie velazquez

Valerie Velazquez (born July 6, 1985) is an American and Latin Pop singer, songwriter and actress. Her start began at the age of eight and at the age of ten was opening for SOLD OUT San Antonio SpursBasketball games in San Antonio's Alamo Dome.




Valerie Velazquez was discovered by Sony BMG Latin A&R, Jorge Fonseca of Sony BMG Music Entertainment(2002) after covering a song made famous by Whitney Houston. She came was handed over to Latin Producer, Gene Evaro of Digital Dreams Entertainment (2003) and briefly was the third member of Latin musical group Tres (2004).


Velazquez, the First Latina to be named Best Actress at Texas State University(2004) was nominated for her role as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors for the National Irene Ryan Award(2004).



In late 2006 Valerie began dating Denis Doric, DJ DUB D, a Miami DJ and producer.

Life and Career

THE EARLY YEARS

Velazquez was born in Leon Valley, TX in San Antonio,TX to Marc Velazquez, a business owner and Angie Rabago, a Vocalist. Velazquez's grandfather, Manuel Anthony was born in [] traveled to New York and settled in Leming, TX. Velazquez's mother is of Italian and Latin decent. As a child, Valerie grew up in a musical household performing daily with her younger brothers, Mark and Alexander Velazquez. Growing up her influnces ranged from Nina Simone, Ella Fitzegerald, Bobby Caldwell, Chuck Mangione and Madonna.

At eight years old and without any previous acting experience or vocal training, Valerie auditioned for the world renowned roll as the orphan Annie in the musical Annie and landed the leading role in San Antonio, TX. She has since had leading roles as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, a role that Judy Garland once made famous. In 2001 Valerie was offered a more risky role at 16 years old to take on the role ofLouis Lane Bianca in Kiss Me Kate, Velazquez provactively danced and whimpered her way through sultry song just as a young woman would. In 1996 Valerie opened for the FOX Kids Fair Tour as the youngest solo entertainer, where she discovered her niche for live performance. In 1997 the savvy little eleven year old loaned her vocal talents to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
