Vake, Fau

Fau Vake (1995/1996 - 25 May 2021) was an amateur mixed martial arts fighter from New Zealand.
Early life
Fau Vake was born in either 1995 or 1996 in New Zealand. He attended Kelston Boys' High School.
In 2012, Fau suffered a broken jaw after being hit from behind.
Career
Over the course of his career, Fau was known to have only played one match in 2016, which he won.
Death
During the morning of 16 May 2021, Fau was attacked while waiting for a taxi on Symonds Street in Auckland.<ref name=":1" /> He sustained critical injuries and was transported to Auckland City Hospital.
After seven days, he died of his injuries on 25 May, 2021 at the age of 25.<ref name":1" /><ref name":3" />
The four assailants were arrested and were brought to trial in Auckland.<ref name":1" /><ref name":3" />
After Fau's death, many New Zealand MMA fighters paid their respects to him, with Israel Adesanya calling for new "coward punch" laws that would punish assaults from behind.<ref name=":2" />
