'Vacancy led recruitment' or 'Vacancy driven/ focused recruitment' market
is driven by the scarcity of vacancies. Vacancies are in short supply and candidates are in abundance. Simply, employers can pick and choose from a selection of candidates all keen to be offered their job. Employers can also offer less money and benefits, less hours or temporary contracts in return for simply providing the candidate with a job.
There is a surplus of candidates on the market in many areas, so for recruitment agencies the business driver was to get client commitment to fill their vacancies.
Benefits for candidates
This is a tough market, candidates must be prepared to drop their financial expectations and to work longer and harder. If they don’t then someone else will. They have to make sure they represent themselves well at all times, people talk, be on time for appointments, dress the part etc. The simplest error can rule them out.
Benefits for clients
