upGrad is an Indian online higher education company, founded in 2015 by Ronnie Screwvala, Mayank Kumar, Phalgun Kompalli, and, Ravijot Chugh. The company is the official education partner for Government of India - Startup India program.
The EdTech company offers online programs to working professionals, college students, and corporates in the fields of IT, Data Science, Management and Technology.
Acqui-hiring
In 2016, upGrad acquihired mobile SaaS-based product Pyoopil to deploy B2B online corporate training programmes.
In 2018, the company acquihired Acadview to enter the higher education market for college students.
In 2019, upGrad acquihired CohortPlus - an online community platform focused at Product Management and Data Science.
Academic Partners
upGrad collaborates with national and international academic partners to create online programs. It offers 30 programs in association with the academic partners that includes BITS Pilani, IIT Madras, IIIT-B, IMT Ghaziabad, , Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), Duke Corporate Education, MICA, Deakin University, and Liverpool Business School.
