A new game in the Halo series of video games is being developed by series developer Bungie. The game, as seen in its trailer, is related in some way to the series' third installment, Halo 3.
Development In an interview on MTV on July 16, 2008, Microsoft’s head of Xbox business, Don Mattrick, stated that Bungie is working on a new Halo game for Microsoft, which he stated is independent of Halo Wars and Halo Chronicles. The Halo announcement was to be part of Microsoft's 150-minute E3 presentation, and was cut to trim the presentation down to 90 minutes; Microsoft has stated it wants to give the game its own dedicated event.
On September 25, 2008 (one year after the release of Halo 3), a new trailer was added to Bungie's website about the new project. The ambiguous trailer depicts numerous Human Entry Vehicles impacting into New Mombasa, and the destruction in the wake of the Prophet of Regret's ship's jump to slipspace (as shown in Halo 2), shown from the point of view of several camera angles. Near the end of the trailer, the Halo 3 stylized logo is also shown. The Xbox Live Marketplace description for the trailer claims it will be an expansion to Halo 3s campaign mode.
