From 80 to 77 BC, a person whose name has been lost to history ruled the Parthian empire. He is the most mysterious figure in the entire history of ancient Iran.
Indeed, the history of Parthia is quite obscure during this period, Orodes I of Parthia's reign seems to have ended, as it had begun, in civil war with an unknown claimant. The name of his successor is unknown, and it is only with the beginning of the reign of Sanatruces, c. 77 BC, that the line of Parthian rulers can again be reliably traced.
Coins and decrees from this royal man of mystery have been found, but his name is nowhere to be found in either case.
