uniPaaS is an application development environment developed by Magic Software Enterprises, that provides a unitary approach to the development of applications that may be deployed in any of a variety of modes including full client server, web, RIA, mobile, batch or SaaS. It is aimed at expanding the capabilities of the company’s long-standing eDeveloper development environment to the web. Overview The uniPaaS application platform offers client-side deployment capabilities similar to other RIA frameworks. It also offers client-server and web application deployment modes similar to Java EE and .NET application servers. Unlike normal .NET programming or Java EE development, however, uniPaaS software development employs a metadata driven approach to programming. The pre-compiled routines in the uniPaaS engine automatically manage the brokering of the user interface layer, data layer, communication layer and business logic layer. Supported server environments for uniPaaS are Linux, Windows, UNIX and IBM i. Native database gateways are provided for MS-SQL, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and Pervasive. Other supported protocols and standards include ODBC, MSMQ, JMS, WebSphere MQ, XML, and Web Services.
