Uness

Uness is a 24 year old R&B/Soul artist from Morocco. He is signed to Ryan Leslie's NextSelection Lifestyle Group and Universal Music Group.

Biography

Having debuted his singing career as a 6-year-old choir vocalist, Uness has discovered early on in his life the complexities of melodies and harmonies. By the age of 10, he had begun mixing the sounds of Pop music, then lead by male artists such as BoyzIImen, the Backstreet Boys, Nsync, Usher and Michael Jackson to his experience.
This new musical approach had rightfully earned him the “little family star” title in the family big parties as he would entertain guests with his passionate sense of interpretation.

At the age of 15, Uness’s father offered him a guitar. After only 2 weeks, Uness learned to play guitar and gradually improved his newly acquired skills, using his instrument to its highest capacities. He recorded his first demo at the age of 16, on a small recorder in his room, using tapes and a microphone. He developed his harmony skills, all on his own, to the point where he can successfully harmonize any melody without a hitch.

His dedication to music had only intensified after his move to Montreal, Canada. A time, in which he dedicated 2 whole years of intense, if not obsessive, recording time on his computer, recognizing that music was his first love.

Deciding to fully commit to music was the first step to his self-creation as an artist. Uness began to open his scope of music genre and discovered artists such as Musiq Soulchild, India Arie and Brian McKnight. These three Songwriters/Artists touched his heart with their magic and helped to make him better then before. They inspired him in his singing, writing and music composition.

Uness showcased in various school productions. He became famous in the high school scene as “The guy who could sing” singing in graduation Proms, Karaoke, Christmas and Valentine shows.

Uness Met Benoit Babin, a genius writer/producer who helped him produce and record his first song in a professional recording studio. A hit was born: "U know what".

The studio experience was overwhelming for all the parties involved in that Uness’s natural abilities to sing as expected of him, right on key, after a maximum of two to three takes, and nailing the harmonies right away, really impressed the people working with him. Let us not forget to mention his creative input throughout the composition process.

Realizing that they had something very rare between their hands, a young artist of extreme talent and music maturity, the producers encouraged Uness to keep writing and creating, while they activated the wheels to set things in motion for him.
A start is being created and it is just a matter of time before the whole world discovers UNESS!

In the winter of 2002, Uness meets Michael Sciscente, president of a new independent record label called Nu blood Records, which specializes in Canadian urban music. They believed right away in Uness’s talent and after months of negotiation, Nu Blood Records signed Uness for a recording contract on the 1st of January 2003. After months of hard work spent at the studio, over 30 songs were written, with the help of many talented producers from all over the world.

The motion Picture Giant Cinelande has joined the journey to support this project and has also produced Uness’s first music video: Arabian Girl. The track was released in the summer of 2003 and the response was very surprising and the song reached many Canadian dance and urban charts.

Now in 2008, Uness is signed to Ryan Leslie's NextSelection/Universal Music Group and buzz track "Taste Your Heartbeat" is starting to get airplay in the UK, Europe and America.
