Operations
Umbrella Entertainment acquires international and Australian feature films and documentaries from the conceptual stages of production through to completion.
In addition to theatrical films, Umbrella Entertainment holds the rights to more than 1,500 library titles and has one of the largest collections of remastered classic Australian Films and TV Programs on DVD in Australia.
Umbrella holds one of the largest commercial libraries of Australian and ozploitation films, regularly restoring genre classic films. Umbrella Entertainment exhibits the releases of rare, classic and cult Australian films.
Umbrella has been responsible for restoring many "lost" Australian films which had been unavailable for decades. These include films by Alex Proyas and Brian Trenchard-Smith. All restorations are scanned in either 4K (from 35mm) and 2K (from 16mm) from original film materials.
Umbrella Entertainment acquires, distributes and manages the release of theatrical titles throughout Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.
Restoration of Australian films
Umbrella has been in the business of remastering and the preservation of Australian films, TV programs, documentaries and releases them world wide on video on demand platforms, TV, Blu-ray and DVD. Umbrella uses a Melbourne post-production facility to manage its film archive transfers to digital media.
Some of Umbrella's Blu-ray and DVD releases have included the restoration of Australian genre films and inclusion of previously unpublished extras and special features. As well as being sourced from National Film and Sound Archives, Umbrella produces extra featurettes and interviews with cast and crew, and includes previously untouched archived materials including footage, outtakes, interviews and production documents.
