UDigits

uDigits (aka Doodle Digits) is a numeric puzzle game, originally developed by UK-based uWaver in which players match and cross pairs of digits that are of equal value or that amount to 10 when added. The goal of the game is to clear the playfield in as few moves as possible. uDigits is currently available for Series 40, Series 60, Symbian, BlackBerry phones and the PlayBook tablet.
Gameplay
In uDigits, every game starts with a grid that contains three rows of digits. The player's task is to match pairs and cross out all digits on the field in as few moves as possible. The match occurs when the two digits in a pair are the same or if their sum is 10. In addition, a match can occur only if those two digits are in certain locations on the field, determined by the selected skill level (Beginner, Advanced, and Pro). When the player runs out of possible combinations, they can request more digits to be added to the field. The game is available in 3 types: Classic, Modern, and Random. The selected type of the game determines the initial set of digits on the field and also the digits that get added at the player's request.
The player wins the game when the entire field is cleared. However, if the player requests digits to be added to the field and that action results in the player's score potentially exceeding 3000, then the game is automatically lost. The Beginner and Advanced levels of uDigits include bonuses that the player receives after every 100 matched digits. Bonuses allow the player to cross out "difficult combinations", pairs with digits of any value.
The complete rules are available on the game's official web site and a review by Nokia's Ovi Daily App includes screenshots and impressions from the game.
Development
The computer version of the game first appeared in May 9, 2003 and was called Numbers. It was developed by the same people who now work in uWaver. The idea was put on hold and made available for mobile seven years later. uDigits was released for Nokia's Series 40 feature-phones on October 14, 2010 and was followed by a release for BlackBerry smartphones on November 4, and a version for BlackBerry PlayBook on March 10, 2011. According to the game's official web site, uDigits for Android is to be released next, with versions for iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Windows Phone 7 to follow sometime in 2011.
