Tyrone Moss

Tyrone Moss (November 19, 1984 in ) is an American football running back who is currently a free agent.
High school career
Tyrone Moss attended Blanche Ely High in Pompano Beach, Florida. He rushed for more than 7,000 yards during his high school career. As a senior in 2002, Moss rushed for 2,313 yards and made 35 touchdowns leading his school to the Florida Class 5A state championship.
College career
Tyrone Moss attended the University of Miami during his college career.
Moss played in 11 games during his freshman year in 2003 and rushed for 511 yards on 107 carries (4.8 average) and scored five touchdowns while sharing time with Frank Gore and Jarrett Payton. Even though he shared time with both star runningbacks, Moss ranked second on the team in rushing yards, rushing attempts, yards per rush and rushing touchdowns. Moss got over 100 yards against Temple University and University of Pittsburgh, 135 yards and 115 yards respectively. Moss also scored two touchdowns against Temple and Pitt. Moss also scored the memorable game-winning touchdown against Syracuse University, 17-10, in which he broke three tackles on the nine-yard run.
In his sophomore year, Moss played in all 12 games, rushed for 445 yards on 102 carries (4.4 average) and scored six touchdowns while serving as the backup to Frank Gore all season. Against University of Houston, Moss rushed for a personal-best 148 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns. He scored Miami's only touchdown on a two-yard run in the second quarter against Virginia Tech.
In his junior year, Moss was on his way to a historic season before being cut down by a knee injury against the Virginia Tech Hokies that sidelined him for the rest of the season. Despite playing in only eight games, Moss rushed for 701 yards on 137 carries (5.1 average) and led the ACC in touchdowns with 12. Moss was named to first-team all-ACC and his 12 touchdowns were the most by a Miami Hurricanes since Willis McGahee. He surpassed the 1,000 yard mark for his career against Florida State, where he rushed for 102 yards. In the three-overtime win to Clemson, Moss rushed for 139 yards on 31 rushes. Moss moved to 13th place on the all-time Miami rushing list, passing Don Bosseler.
The 2006 season was a frustrating one for the star running back. Moss recovered from his ACL injury just in time but was suspended for Miami’s season opener due to violations of the team’s academic policies. He was unable to wrestle the starting job from freshman sensation Javarris James and only played in eight games. He finished the year having rushed for 285 yards on 66 carries (4.3 average) and three touchdowns.
Professional career
Moss was not drafted in the 2007 NFL Draft. He signed a free agent deal with the Cleveland Browns the Monday following the draft, but was released on May 8, 2007.
