On March 16 2012, the Turkish Army suffered it's largest loss of life in the ongoing war in Afghanistan, when a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk came down in a suburb of Kabul, killing all 12 Turkish soldiers onboard. Total fatalities was brought to 14, with 2 people on the ground killed. No insurgent force was reported in the area, and the crash is being treated as an accident. Crash details Hürriyet reported that the aircraft suffered a technical fault and tried an emergency landing, attempting to avoid nearby housing, unfortunately the aircraft hit a house and 4 civilians were also killed, along with the 12 soldiers. The helicopter was destroyed in the accident, the house it clipped was partially destroyed. <ref name=bbc1 />
