TruFont is an open-source font editor aiming to provide a replacement to FontForge. The idea of this software is to setup a framework that is as thorough and modular, while keeping a simple, easy to maintain codebase. Its main particularity is to be built with Python and Qt, which are very popular programming tools, in order to be easy to modify and improve for contributors. This editor supports the format, which is the most widely used among the libre font formats. The long-term goal of this software is to provide access to every aspect of a UFO font, as well as basic editing and viewing tools. The development of more sophisticated features will be done in extensions, which is why the modular aspect is essential to the software. |
