Truespel

Truespel - Phonetic Spelling

Truespel is a phonetic spelling/writing system based on English. It was established by Thomas E. Zurinskas in the USA with assistance from Bruce L. Rosenberg in 1987. This was the same year that the European phonetic notation, SAMPA, was established in Europe. These notations were in reaction to the user unfriendliness of IPA phonetics for computer application. However, the European event, which did not invite USA participation, resulted in an English unfriendly system replete with special symbols. Instead, the truespel method does not use special symbols and is English friendly. It is noteworthy that English is the lingua franca of the world (95% of the scientific journals are in English). This is the way to go for phonetic notation. Native English speakers will appreciate the similarity to English spelling, and learners will like the ease of transition to English spelling.

Below are reasons why truespel is the world's best phonetic representation, especially for English.

1. It's based on commonest representation of the sounds of English. English is the lingua franca of the world; science, business, entertainment, and it's the standard
for aviation. (68% of the native English speakers live in the USA).

2. It's keyboard friendly (no special symbols).

3. It's accurate (schwa is replaced by the actual phoneme used in USA pronunciation).

4. It's email friendly (no problem copy-pasting).

5. It's filename friendly (no characters rejected).

6. It's spreadsheet friendly (See the spreadsheet analyses in the truespel books at authorhouse.com).

7. It's capitalization friendly (Capitalization can be used as normal in traditional spelling - this is not true of SAMPA or other notations).

8. It's punctuation friendly (Punctuation marks can be used as in traditional spelling - this is often not true of other notations).

9. It's mature (over 20 years in development and implementation).

10. It's everywhere (the entire internet is respelled in truespel via the URL converter at truespel.com).

11. It's quality controlled (via the database based on standardized popular dictionary pronunciations.

12. It's free (The converter at truespel.com changes text into phonetics, and also vice versa. One can also click on a word to see word meaning.

13. INTEGRATION. It offers for the first time the opportunity to integrate all literasy issues into one English based system: dictionary keys, translation guides, initial reading systems, accent remediation, and spreadsheet phonetic analyses.
