Troy Sparks

Troy (T.J.) Sparks, Jr. (born September 1991) is a sports columnist, freelance writer, and former host of the basketball podcast, The Daily Dish. He is best known for his tenure at RealGM.com.
Early life
Sparks, born in Johnson City, Tennessee, grew up in a small town known as Richlands, Virginia. He began posting on message boards on the internet while joining the Yahoo! Sports boards in the late 1990s/early 2000s. In 2004 he took a major interest in sportswriting and has made titanic-sized efforts to improve to much avail. Still a teenager, he's known as a 'sportswriting phenom.'
RealGM
Sparks began contributing articles to RealGM.com circa 2004. Dubbed the moniker, The Sports Guy, he was the face of RealGM during the final years that he contributed to the site. He posted two columns a week on the site until December 2007.
Influences
Sparks' writing has been linked to Bill Simmons' style of writing, except many people speculate that Sparks adds a sharper tone of voice and varies from optimism and pessimism, with dark satire and an upbeat tempo with a brash twist.
Collaborations
Sparks has often collaborated writing articles with ESPN.com's Bill Simmons, LA Times columnist Bill Plaschke, former NFL Running Back Marcus Allen, ESPN.com's Scoop Jackson, and Michael Smith.
