The Trout Unlimited Chili Cook-Off is an annual chili cookoff put together by Trout Unlimited and held in Rome, Georgia. Proceeds from the program are put to many different uses including endowments at the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry for scholarships; the Arrowhead Environmental Center; the Coosa River Basin Initiative; and local, state and national projects to restore cold water streams. The Main attraction of the cook off is the competition and an all day long concert by many different bands playing country, jazz, and the blues. When the competition began in 1995 there were only 14 teams with only a handful of judges. Now there is over 110 different teams and a jury of 50 judges. The competition is held every year in Ridge Ferry Park, in Rome Georgia. Last years competition held a record for itself by having over 7000 visitors and over 110 different teams. Chili Cook-Off The Trout Unlimited chili cook off is a state-wide known cook off. Up to 110 plus teams come together to compete for trophies and award money in 4 different categories: Judges choice, Peoples choice, Cooks choice, and Best site set-up. Each category will have a 4th to 1st place winner, with the first place winner winning 500 dollars and a trophy.
