Traver H. Kennedy

Traver H. Kennedy is an American business executive and entrepreneur in the computer, aviation, and hydrogen fuel industry. He was previously the Chief Strategist and Chief Evangelist for Citrix Systems. In addition to founding companies like Joi Scientific, where he is currently the Chairman and CEO, he is also the founder of the Application service provider (ASP) Industry Consortium, the Mobile Enterprise Alliance, and cofounder of the ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Education and early career
Traver Kennedy graduated from Bowdoin College in 1975 with a degree in Music, majoring in Classical Voice. After graduating, Kennedy opened an audio and video store, which eventually began selling computers. Following this, he started a career as a computer consultant. then as vice president for strategy and Chief Strategist, and later as the company’s Chief Evangelist. In 2001 NetworkWorld magazine named Kennedy on its list of the twenty-five most powerful people in networking. While at Citrix, Kennedy worked on developing and distributing early versions of application service providers, in addition to early cloud technology This led those in his industry to refer to him as the “father of the ASP industry”. Kennedy was also the founder and Chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium, and was a founder and Chairman of the Mobile Enterprise Alliance.
Other industries
In 2015, Kennedy co-founded Joi Scientific, where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO. The company develops technology for the development of hydrogen fuel from seawater, and has been criticized for promising impossible efficiencies that would violate the first law of thermodynamics. Some of the company's technology was based on the work of discredited inventor Stanley Meyer, and during the summer of 2019 the company announced that their technology was substantially less efficient than previously described and that they were running out of funding. Kennedy is also the founder of Molecular Power Systems. Kennedy is on the board of directors for AI firm HiConversion, and has served as Chairman of the Palm Beach County Early Learning Coalition.
