Travelling Inspector of Account

The Travelling Inspector of Accounts (TIA) is an employ of Indian railways in supervisory category, who checks the various accounts of commercial operations on the railway stations and other locations. He is given a section called district that can have several stations for checking purposes.He travels all the stations/locations allotted to him and checks various transactions like ticketing and parcel.
This class of employees work is of executive in nature. The records sent from various money collection points to accounting unit needs to be co-related/verified, as any document produced should stand the legal point. This is also to ensure that there is no leakage of Railway Revenue and to stop any such eventuality.
It is also the duty of this executive to assist the money collector of the Railways to keep the records as per constitutionally set codal provisions. TIA supplement the in the internal check machinery of Railway accounts department by carrying out checks on initial records at the commercial locations.
These posts are generally operated from the Zonal HQs of the Railways. An accounts employee of Indian Railways needs to qualify Appendix III-A exam, conducted from Railway Board, New Delhi.
There is a community named "ALL INDIA RAILWAY ACCOUNTS STAFF ASSOCIATION" (AIRASA) which is set for the development and care of the accounts employees of Indian Railways.
A TIA checks Booking office, reservation, parcel, and Good/Sidings depots etc.
