Trapped in a Box

"Trapped in a Box" was a song released by No Doubt on their self-titled debut album. The song is based on a poem guitarist Tom Dumont wrote about being addicted to television. It was supposed to be released as a single, but Interscope didn't want to fund it, because the album was a commercial failure. It achieved no status worldwide and the music video made for the song was never played by either MTV or VH1 (it was played on MuchMusic in Canada). The song was added to "The Singles 1992-2003" and the video to "The Videos 1992-2003".

Music video
The music video was directed by Mike Zykoff and was made in a garage with a mere $5,000 from the band's own money. It shows a man watching No Doubt performing on TV in the dark.
