Toyota acronyms

These are abbreviations, acronyms and other terms used by Toyota in their marketing material.
BEAMS
Acronym for Breakthrough Engine with Advanced Mechanism System. Marketing term used for many Toyota engines from the mid 1990s onwards.
LASRE
Acronym for Lightweight Advanced Super Response Engine. Marketing term used from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s.
TEMS
Acronym for Toyota Electronically Modulated Suspension. The suspension dampers were electronically controlled to provide two levels of damping - soft and sports modes. A third was automatically activated during wide open throttle, hard braking, and high speed manoeuvring. HKS made a "TEMS Controller" to hack the system and activate it on the fly, though the controllers are now nearly impossible to find.
The introduced a variation of TEMS called Pegasus (Precision Engineered Geometrically Advanced SUSpension). The Toyota FXV-II concept car used a hydro-pneumatic enhancement of TEMS called Pegasus Experimental that replaced the springs entirely.
TTC
Acronym for the Toyota Total Clean system of emission controls for the Japanese market from the mid 1970s to the mid 1980s. TTC-L was used on lean burn engines, TTC-C was used on engines with catalytic converters and TTC-V was used on vortex combustion engines.
