Toom Junthanit or Auntie Toom was born in 1853. She was 102 years old at that time. Her house is located in Baantatnoi, Prakangtung, Tatpanom, Nakhonpanom, Thailand.
Background
The picture of Auntie Toom Junthanit presenting three lotus flower to the King Bhumibol Adulyadej taken by A-nut Bunnak was called "The Flower of the Heart". The picture later became a historical picture which conveys more than a million words.
Story
During November 12-14, 1955, it was the first time that King Bhumibol Adulyadej visited people in the north-east of Thailand. On November 13, 1955 morning, King Bhumibol Adulyadej particfipated in the event at Wattatpanom. Later in the afternoon he went to visit people at Wattatnoi.
In the early morning, Toom Junthanit and her sister prepared three lotus flowers and walked to Wattatnoi. They had been waiting for the King from morning till noon. The sunlight burnt the lotus flowers so it became wither. When the King arrived at Wattatnoi, he walked to the place where Auntie Toom was sitting. She put her hands up to her head showing respect to him. The King bent down to her and touched her hands gently and talked to her.
