Tommies Till I Die is a theme is which represents the feelings of students of Sir Thomas Rich's School, past present and future, and therefore affects thousands of people who all share their love for an wonderful educational establishment. It is also the most widely recognised alternative school song for Sir Thomas Rich's School, written and sung exclusively by students. Whilst it does not have the history or the musical excellence of the other school song - the "Tommy" Psalm, it makes up for this in its easy to learn lyrics and simple tune, making it much easier to sing when out and about. History The origins of the theme and song are somewhat blurred, though the point at which it rose to popularity is well documented - it was primarily sung as a means of passing the time during the school's rugby tour to Australia in 2007. The long coach journeys between matches were dominated by the song, and it persisted as a theme and as a musical piece after the tour party returned. Ever since then, it has been the theme tune of the current Upper Sixth (Class of '09), and the members of this year are overjoyed that they have introduced such a popular and relevant tradition to the modern Tommies atmosphere. The Lyrics Though the lyrics are simple, they encapsulate what it is to be a Richian perfectly - the devotion and pride that all pupils show to the school can be likened to that shown by patriots to their home countries; Tommies Till I Die is almost on the same level as a National Anthem in the hearts and minds of Richians everywhere. All richians are informally required to know the words and be able to perform the song on request by their peers. The words are as follows:

I'm Tommies 'till I die,
I'm Tommies 'till I die,
I know I am,
I'm sure I am,
I'm Tommies 'till I die.
Current Usage and Notable Performances The song is a common theme on nights out, with the senior students often bellowing it out through the streets of Cheltenham when walking between venues. The most commonly accepted way of performing the song is as follows: # An alcoholic beverage should be consumed of some kind. This is not a necessary part of the procedure, but it makes the performance much easier. # A group of friends should be gathered all with the intention of joining in with the performance. # Each individual should draw a large breath, and then wait for the signal to start the song. # Once the first person has started, all others must join in. The louder and more out of tune the rendition, the more successful it is considered to be.
One notable performance both for its excellence and passion was during the walk between Revolution bar in Cheltenham and Dakota (a nightclub in Cheltenham) on the night of the last headphone disco. The rendition lasted for over 5 minutes and will stick in the memories of all involved for years to come The Future Everyone who attends Sir Thomas Rich's School leaves with a fantastic array of memories, experiences and skills. Tommies Till I Die looks set to be an important aspect of any modern richian, and with the first generation of richians that had been exposed fully to the song about to head off into the world, the song and all that accompanies it looks set to dominate the globe.

Tommies Till I die, coming to a town near you!!
