Tomas M Fleischmann

Tomas Fleischmann (born in Slovakia 1938) is an Australian published author. He is best known for his recent book Lolli's Apple which has won an International Gold Medal and was shortlisted for the Sydney Galley Club Awards for Excellence.
Tomas survived the Holocaust with his pregnant mother, nicknamed Lolli. He remarkably escaped death at the Terezin concentration camp where 16000 children perished and only 123 survived. His brother, Peter, was one of 25 children out of a total of 350 children born in Terezinstadt who survived.
Tomas was a privileged six year old boy who grew up in a castle of Mali Bab and was looked after by a Governess before being faced with the many horrors during WWII. All the while, still being loved by his wonderful and intelligent mother who inspired him to remain brave and keep strong as a young boy.
Tomas later migrated to Australia where he attended Parramatta High School in Sydney and began a successful career in textiles. Although retired, he spends his time with his wife Caroline, 8 children and 16 grandchildren, and if he has enough time up his sleeve he enjoys racing yachts and riding motorcycles.
Tomas is a regular speaker for Courage to Care, and visits schools and communities across Australia.
