Tobias T. Gebb (born August 26, 1968) is a New York-based drummer, composer, producer and educator. He has been involved in projects ranging from traditional jazz, to blues, rock, pop and many more. He is also the founder of the record label Yummyhouse Records. Biography Gebb grew up in New York, NY. He started playing violin with 6 years and switched to piano at the age of 8. After studying classical piano for 6 years, he became a drummer at the age of 15. Growing up in Manhattan he visited the neighborhood jazz haunts, which extended his interest in jazz music. He obtained a bachelor's degree in composition from Berklee College of Music (1992), a master's degree in performance from the Manhattan School of Music (1994) and a dual master's degree in general and special education from Bank Street School of Education (2013). Tobias has been teaching at Columbia Grammar Prep School since 2012 of which one of his students was Barron Trump while he was in grammar school. Musical career Studying at the Berklee College of Music he played with fellow students such as Roy Hargrove and Antonio Hart. Also at the Manhattan School of Music he had the opportunity to work with fellow alumni such as Stefon Harris, Ryan Kisor, Eric Lewis, Joel Frahm and others. During his college years he lived in the San Francisco Bay area for a year and played with the west coast pianist Smith Dobson. In 1996 he worked with the artist Blake Morgan and producer Phil Ramone on the N2K Sony/Red Label's release Anger's Candy featuring guest artist Lenny Kravits. He also appeared on record with Donald Fegan (Steely Dan) while recording Michael Leonhart’s 1997 Sunnyside Records release Glub Glub vol. 11. He toured with other artists such as Josh Dodus (VH-1’s Bands on the Run) and Mike Errico. As a member of the group Skizm he won the 1997 Grammy competition for “Best Unsigned Band”. Yummyhouse Records In 2005 Tobias Gebb formed the record label Yummyhouse Records and released four records between 2005 and 2010. The published records were favorably reviewed by different websites and magazines such as The Boston Globe, The Financial Times, Premiere Magazine and The Village Voice. The record Free At Last of the group UNIT 7 reached the Top Ten on National Radio Charts.
