Tobey Bartee

Tobey Bernard Bartee (born January 17, 1977) was a candidate for the 2018 United States Senate special election in Mississippi. He submitted paperwork to run in April 2018. He is one of two Democrats in the race alongside Mike Espy. Bartee is a former military intelligence officer who is running for office for the first time. He has previous experience at the Department of Defense, the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security and a Masters in Public Policy from Vanderbilt University.
At at event at Millsaps College Bartee said the United States needed to strengthen education to compete internationally. In an interview with WLOX he said that improving healthcare, education and infrastructure required work at the federal and state level to be able to bring jobs to Mississippi. Carrying less than 13,000 votes, he finished last, with a mere 1.4% of the total votes cast.
