Tidal Construction Company
Tidal Construction Company is owned by J. Anthony Register and John Meeks. The company was founded in 1986 in Richmond Hill, Georgia. The owners recently donated a towering, gigantic American flag to the city of Richmond Hill, and it flies over the city's southern portal to recognize and welcome all who visit, especially the U.S. soldiers and airmen who are based at the U.S. Army's Fort Stewart in Bryan County and the Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah. A granite monument at its base pays tribute to these brave sevicemen and was dedicated by Mayor John Davis and U.S. Congressman Jack Kingston. The flag can be seen by traveling south on US Highway 17 after it crosses GA Highway 144 in Richmond Hill. Richmond Hill is the historic coastal city south of Savannah that was the recipient of the largesse of Henry Ford, who rescued the town in the 1930s from the devastating effects of Reconstruction after the Civil War. It's also the site of Fort McAllister which protected the southern flank of Savannah during the Civil War, until General Sherman overran the earthen structure prior to capturing Savannah in December 1964. Co-owner John Meeks and his family own and reside at the antebellum plantation originally known as Myrtle Grove and renamed Folly Farms. It stands on Old Hardwicke Road which follows the Ogeechee River that leads to Fort McAllister. Sherman's troops are believed to have encampeded on the plantation's front lawn under its massive live oak trees while awaiting resupply before their taking of Savannah to effectively end Sherman's famous "March to the Sea."
