Thomas Mostert

Thomas J. Mostert, Jr. is a Seventh-day Adventist administrator. He was president of the Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists until his retirement at the end of 2007.
Biography
He was born in Bellflower, California, and attended Collegedale Academy in Collegedale, Tennessee. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in theology from Southern Adventist University and a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. Mostert began his ministerial service as a pastor in the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference in 1964. He was also a pastor in the Chesapeake Conference and ministerial secretary of the Potomac Conference before serving as president of the Mountain View, Hawaii, and Southeastern California conferences.
Mostert was elected president of the Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in 1986. He coordinates the many-faceted mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Pacific Union Conference territory - the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. He is a member of many Union, Division, and General Conference boards and committees. While in that position, he served on the board of directors of La Sierra University and Pacific Union College. Mostert is chairman of the Adventist Health board, which operates 20 hospitals, plus other healthcare facilities, in California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington.
Mostert authored the book Hidden Heresy? in 2005, published by Pacific Press. In the book Mostert probes the mega/giga church movement - its leaders, philosophies, and articles of faith.
Mostert is married to Pauline. They have three adult daughters: Sheryl, Julie and Lori.
