This Is Not A Dead Transmission

This Is Not A Dead Transmission are an English post-rock band from London, England formed in 2007 by Jaemi Zahra-Hall. To date, they have released one EP, A Fine Impression of Dying Ants independantly.
History
The band formed shortly after Jaemi Zahra-Hall left his former band Ophelia Torah, citing 'musical differences' as his reason for leaving. He then found session drummer Lew West to perform his songs, and the duo went through a succession of 'stand-in' bass players, including Queenadreena guitarist Crispin Gray. before settling on permenant bass player Aidan Stevens in November 2008.
Shortly before Aidan's inception the band had completed a debut EP, A Fine Impression of Dying Ants, which was released on January 14th 2009. National dates are currently being announced to promote the self-released EP.
Music style
TINADT's musical style is deeply rooted in post-rock and shoegaze, although new material is showing influence of nu-metal bands such as Deftones. The guitar sound features heavy use of delay and reverb effects, and the bass is often heavily distorted to provide extra depth. The band have been described as 'Joy Division takes on Mogwai' .
A Fine Impression of Dying Ants
This Is Not A Dead Transmission released their debut EP, A Fine Impression of Dying Ants independantly on January 14th 2009. The EP itself had been completed prior to bassist Aidan Stevens' inception, although his signature distortion was subsequently added to the bass parts on the record prior to its release. The EP features five songs that the band played live during the first year of their career. TINADT have recently commenced work on their debut album, debuting a new song at The Purple Turtle on Wednesday January 14th. The new song showed evidence of heavier 'groovier' riffs and a slightly more 'commercial' feel.
