Third Wall Theatre Company

The Third Wall Theatre Company in Ottawa, Canada was founded by Artistic Director James Richardson in 2001. Their first official season commenced in 2002 with The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde. The company's 2006-2007 season was their sixth of producing classic theatre in the Canada's capital. The mandate of Third Wall Theatre is to present masterpiece theatre from around the world in an imaginative and professional fashion. The name of the company was inspired by the concept of the "fourth wall," which, in theatre terms, is the invisible wall that separates the actors from the audience. However, the company believes that the audience is the most important part of any show and should not be separate from the production. Thus, this theatre ends at the "third wall." For the 2006-07 season, the company presented three shows: Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus; Harold Pinter's Betrayal; and Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer.
