Thinning the Herd are a stoner rock/doom metal band from New York City that formed in 2006. The original members of the band were Gavin Spielman, Richard Tapper, Dan Carillo and Daniel Kutcher. The band is lead by only founding member Gavin Spielman and has sever albums under their belt.
Thinning the Herd has been nominated as one of the top emerging acts of 2011 by Deli Magazine, NY. The band’s music has been compared to the MC5, Iggy Pop and The Stooges and The Velvet Underground by Guitar Player Magazine’s “Myspace Hordes” column, which “spotlight(s) thrilling guitar talents,” 12/07, noting their song ‘Kitchen Sink’….’rocks so hard’.
