History
thedatabank was founded in 1998 by Mark Paquette and Chris Hanson. Paquette and Hanson had previously worked in the nonprofit sector, with involvement in issues such as social justice, peace and human rights.
Paquette, a former engineer with Honeywell, worked on guidance systems for nuclear missiles before moving into educational software design, where he led technical teams for three versions of the educational computer game “The Oregon Trail.”
Hanson, who had previously founded six companies, raised millions of dollars for organizations such as Farm Aid, the Sierra Club, Special Olympics and Honor the Earth.:

thedatabank focuses on nonprofit organizations with annual revenues between one and ten million dollars - a group made up of approximately 250,000 organizations.
