The Writing Disorder is an online literary magazine devoted to literature, art, and culture. It is based in Los Angeles, California, United States. The mission of the magazine is to showcase new and emerging writers - particularly those in MFA writing programs — as well as established ones. The site also features original artwork, photography, and comic art. Although it strives to publish original and experimental work, The Writing Disorder remains rooted in the classic art of storytelling. The Writing Disorder also prints an annual anthology that presents their best work of the year. History The Writing Disorder was founded in 2009 by Christian Lukather, a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts, and Paul Garson, a graduate of USC. The site is supported by faculty, alumni, and students of Cal Arts, USC, and NYU. It is also supported by members of the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, Inc., and poets Judith Taylor and Amy Newlove Schroeder. Christian Lukather received his BFA in Art and Design, and studied under John Baldessari, Norman Klein, and Alexander Mackendrick. He also won several design awards while working at Promax/BDA, and was a colleague of Richard Lange's. Paul Garson attended undergraduate school at Tulane University followed by graduate degrees at the Johns Hopkins University and at USC.
