The Twilight Fanfiction Awards

the Twilight Fanfiction Awards (also known as "TwilightFFA or TFFA) is an award and recognition website made for showcasing Twilight Fanfiction launched in July of 2008. Just a few months after the website was launched, it became a massive hit within the fanfiction community, with its two (once three) administrators receiving about 60 emails a day.
the Twilight Fanfiction Awards was named just that after its creators "Couldn't think of anything else to call it - 'Twilight Awards' was , though we didn't even know it existed at the time." It's target readers were a little uneasy about such a long title and url, but were ultimately satisfied.
History
the Twilight Fanfiction Awards were concieved in the summer of 2008, when the then 16-year-old Lena "Twilight" was browsing fanfiction stories on the web. One of her friends had shown her an especially good one, but almost know one had reviewed it. "It was really sad," says Lena, the project head, "We found some amazing reads, but almost no one WAS reading them." They decided to put together a website to showcase and reward some of the lesser known but more amazing fics, because they were so excited for Breaking Dawn and because " really had nothing better to do." Lena and her friends worked on the project non-stop for a day, and it was officially launched on July 15, 2008. To get the website off the ground, the girls spent hours reading and nominating fiction writings themselves, havign to input it all onto their website manually. "It was really daunting," She was quoted as saying, "It still is. But its worth it."
Site content
The content of the site is updated almost on a daily basis (when it is opened for nominations, etc) with the addition of new layouts, blog updates, etc. Writer contributions come in the form of nomination submissions and readily selectable content that is automatically filtered, such as the site's voting page or their updated newsletter, respectively.
Reception
While falling into a slow start (for the first month of running the awards website, the administrators had to do most of the nominating themselves, and had very little votes to go on), the website had really taken off by its third month, with massive amounts of nominations and votes coming in. Fanfiction users added the Twilight Fanfiction Awards fanfiction.net account to their alert lists and signed on to its newsletter. Soon, they were recieving over 60 emails a day in their inbox, so much so that it became necessary to only open the website for voting in the summer, though in March 2009, that was changed to every two months, making the site open for 6 months out of the year, due to popular demand.
