The Sword of Swords

The Sword of Swords is a sword that has been swallowed 33 times. As of September 2007 this has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records.[]

The sword

The sword was originally part of a five-sword set specifically made for a Sword swallowing act. The other four swords had matching hilt designs and included: a heavily-curved Sabre, a Kris, a chain-hilted blade and a dagger.

The blade is made of highly-polished Surgical steel with a sintered alloy hilt, bound with brown and gold braid. The gradual taper ( 2.2cm at the hilt to 1.7cm near the tip ), the flat steel blade, the weighty hilt and the fairly rounded tip are all factors that allow the sword to be fairly easily swallowed by professionals.

After the swallow each performer signs an autograph. These autographs were to have been originally etched onto the blade but due to the large number of them and the fact that the blade would become rougher (making it harder to swallow).
