The Summit Preparatory School

The Summit Preparatory School is a private school offering college based curriculum and advanced learning. It was founded in 2005 as a non-profit orgainization and offers a high level education for grades K-8. Currently The Summit is renting from Wesley United Methodist Church but hopes to eventually have their own building. Class sizes are small (no more than 15 students per class), which allows for individual attention for better learning. Students are exposed to foreign language at and early age (kindergarten) and have the exciting opportunity to become bilingual. The Summit embraces a unique style of learning which lessens the amount of text book usage. Laptops are used regularly in all classes, especially in the Explorers (Middle School Program) where each student has a personal laptop for writing/research. Students strive to achieve there highest potential, but also exercise collaborative learning in everyday activities. Students at The Summit are not grouped by age, instead they learn with others that are at the same level. One student may be in advanced placement in math but may struggle in Science but with this placement system the student will be placed in the appropriate class so they will still be challenged, but not falling behind. This way student get to mix with others who have similar interests. At The Summit students are allowed to learn at their own pace at their own level.
