The Standard Music Venue, sometimes referred to simply as 'The Standard' or 'The Royal Standard' is a music venue in Walthamstow, north-east London. The venue, linked to the Tryst bar next door, is on Blackhorse Lane, directly opposite Blackhorse Road underground station. The venue is known for its popular unsigned bands night on Thursdays, as well as hosting tribute acts at weekends. Rock bands such as Blur and The Rolling Stones are said to have played the venue, which has a capacity of several hundred. Much to the outrage of local music fans, the venue is threatened with closure due to redevelopment plans in the area.
