The Rukus

The Rukus is an american hip hop group based out of Tampa, Florida. The group consists of emcees, KeithElite and Rude, childhood friends since their high school days as military dependents overseas at Kadena High School in Okinawa, Japan. DJ Blenda, a longtime staple in the Tampa Hip Hop scene, DJ's shows with the group and contributes the scratches in their music.

Since arriving on the Tampa music scene in 2005, The Rukus has played countless shows around Florida. They've generated a buzz in the Tampa Bay area for the classic style hip hop music, and the energetic live performances, they bring to the table. The Rukus has performed at events with the likes of Gwan Massive, Surreal, Louis Logic, RADIx, LMNO of The Visionaries, , [http://en. .org/wiki/Hangar_18_%28rap_group%29 Hangar 18,]The AB's (formerly Asamov), Blackalicious, and the legendary De La Soul. They had the opportunity to play the 2nd Stage of the Rock The Bells Festival in Miami in 2007. The Rukus has also played many other local events in the Tampa Bay area.

In 2006, The Rukus released an E.P. entitled, "Sidetracked," locally and online. They are currently working on their official debut album to be released in 2008.

The Rukus is a part of the Tampa collective of musicians known as Gwan Massive. Gwan Massive also includes the bands: Tribal Style and d'Visitors, solo acts: Breakdown and Highah Seekah, and DJ's: Blenda, Ranmecca, and Slopfunkdust.
