The Red Strat

The Red Strat is David Gilmour's second-most famous Stratocaster. It was used during Pink Floyd's last two albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell along with white-colored back-up versions built to the same specifications.
Specification & History
It has a maple neck and fretboard. It also has a candy apple red body and a white scratch plate. Soon after he purchased it he put EMG active pickups which are still on it to this day.
He bought it, along with several other guitars, from a Fender warehouse<ref name="Gilmourish"/> in 1987 during recording of A Momentary Lapse of Reason. He purchased three identical red Stratocasters and two white, all were taken on the road for the 1987-89 tour to support the album. The white Strats were used as back-ups and for rehearsals while the reds were set with different tunings (standard, drop-D and "DADGAD"). The red Strats were also used during one-off performances and appearances by Gilmour from 1987 to 2002 and during recording for The Division Bell from 1993 to 1994 and subsequent tour in 1994. Gilmour reverted to using his black Strat since the Pink Floyd reunion at Live8 in 2005, though the red was used during recording of On an Island and for performances of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" on his 2006 solo world tour. Both red and white Stratocasters can be seen in a photo postcard which was included in the Live in Gdansk deluxe edition, along with the Black Strat and others used on the 2006 tour.
The Strat Pack
The Red Strat along with the 0001 Strat was used in the 2004 Strat Pack show that commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster.
