is a fictional character, a comic book superhero created by a New York writer named Robert Bigus and first illistrated by Scott Drake in 1971. Both were living in New York, New York, working for a news paper company making small comic book funnies in titled "The Red Hood" making fun of mysterious people in hoods. Turing over from that, the small comic didn't make very much, Bigus decided to go for a more serious approach with a story. They decided to go to DC with there idea for a new super hero, and they accepted but only gave the two a small amount to publish it. The character first appeard in The Red Coat #1 (March 8, 1971). A month after publishing the comic only made under ten thousand. After 2 months of its published though it seemingly made alot more passing the 30,000 mark and was in the top ten new comics list in 1972. After a decade, The Red Coat got even more popular. With the success of its 50th issuse (50 pages long) Featuring a story about The Red Coat getting himself throw in prision just to speak to his drug and crimilized father. The story was compeling and it made The Red Coat a must buy comic. The story of The Red Coat has helped to create the mysterious genre of comics and establish a true alter ego for his and others charcter. The character's appearance has never changed since its release, the red hood and boots as simple as a hero can get, however making up for his power and commitment, show people that anyone can be a hero in anyway. It isn't about the constume or having the super powers. Its about the heart.

Fictional character biography
Early life and back-story
The true origin story of The Red Coat (also known as RC) relates to a 18 year old High school student named Lance Berdan. Very handsome and athletic he started to display abilities in track and baseball. His best friend John Brown attened high school with him and he is now known as Knight a fellow super hero to The Red Coat. Lance grew up in the suburban neighborhood and lived with mother and father who where very poor. His mother was a stay at home mom and his father was a modern achohalic. Lance never understood how they made money but in his early adult hood he found out his father was a potential drug dealer and part time criminal. In his early days as The Red Coat Lance, stop a gang of thugs. Three of the four manged to escape but the one who didn't was Lances father. He tried to his father and for him to get out of his criminal life but he would not lisen. Lance let him free but a week later his father was arrested for battery. At one last desperate attempt to straighten his father out, Lance got himself arrested intentionaly to speak to his father directly in prison (The Red Coat #50). Speaking with him, still his father wouldn't listen and Lance finaly gave up hope on him and easily broke out of prison leaving no trace. Lance Berdan , is an everyday man just making his way in the world. He lives currently in New York crime fighting and works with his former high school sweet heart Lorin Livil.

Origin of powers and story
Upon a week before graduating, he noticed on his way home that a building was on fire. Adventurous as he was, Lance ran in to save an infant traped on the 2nd flool. Apon rescuing the child he heard more screams within the building and rushed back in. To the corner of his eye he saw what seemed to be a gas tank but look particularly different, then a buring floor board above hit him and his jacket caught on fire. Taking the jacket off and throwing it, he didn't realized that that he hit the gas tank (now known as a sec tank) he was formerly looking at. Then suddenly the building collapsed on him, leaving only rubble. Firemen dug through to find some hope of life and they found Lance, unconcious,bruised and beaten, however they noticed there were no burns on him. In the hospital, a day later, waking up to only find doctors shocked that he nearly died he walked straight up and left the hospital as if the accident did not happen. Also returning to school the next day. He played baseball as he usually did. He pitched one of his famous fastballs however this ball was on fire. Confused and indenile of what happend, he hid from himself and many people til graduation day. Ater the ceromony everyone went over to hang out at a local bowling alley to celebrate. He dated the younger sister of the "school badass" named Andy Livil (which later would become the villain Acid) who was held back a year being 19. Andy did not like Lance and they would never be 50 feet near eachother but happen to find eachother at the bowling alley . Andy always making a scene of himself attacked Lance. The fight would have been his but once Lance got a hold of him Andy was only left with a first degree burn .

Fire Manipulation
The Red Coat's main power source is his fire manipulation ability. He got his power from a sec tank which has been the main power souce of super heroes and villains who have special abilities. His fire is very powerful and is not easliy matched. He basicly can burn through anything such as: doors, ,steel, brick. He also has full control over it meaning he can turn it on and off at will. For example he can stop buildings from burning by regenerating the fire (and that also makes him even more powerful). Another thing he a can do is make weapons out of the fire, using only his mind. He will usually conjure flaming swords or fire balls. Lance uses his fire even for simple daily things. A receptionist as his office is a smoker and always ask if he as a light (not knowing the fact that he is The Red Coat) and Lance always takes the cigeret from her and lights it secretly. Although he is practicly fire he is not alergic to water, however just as water on a flame, water will put it out, so his fire isn't exactly water proof. He is much more powerful around heat. He has crushed foes easliy (breaking a sweat) under hot conditions, and his fire works more powerfuly during the daytime.

Agility
The Red Coat is a top fighter. His agility (which was given by the sec tank) added to his martial arts is a leathal combo. His agility anables him to jump and surpas 20 feet and sometimes more. He is always found jumping from building to building. He is very acrobatic and has been seen jumping from traffic light to traffic light on some occasions as well.

Strength and Speed
The sec tank increases Lances strength and speed. He can only lift under a thousand pounds however, he makes up for it with his speed. His dogdes attacks most if not all the time and is never hit. Both are a leathal combination combined with all his other powers making him if not nearly unstopable but a tough foe.

Acid,Tornado,Squid,Bison,Madlock,Tec,Leon,Vipera,The Cartoonist,MonkeyMan, and others but not as notable.

Video Game

Video game design of The Red Coat. In talks with at the moment. The games release date is unknown but the title will be "Red Coat: Birth of Flame"
