The Real Truth About Success

The Real Truth About Success is a 2009 book by Garrison Wynn, founder of Wynn Solutions. Its subtitle promises to share "What the top 1 percent does differently, why they won't tell you, and how you can do it anyway."
Wynn's company decided to investigate what the most successful business people did differently in order to rise in their professions. In the process of five thousand interviews, over ten years, with professionals from more than twenty industries, Wynn wanted to determine what kinds of "attributes, skills, and behaviors elevated people to the very top of their fields." When he determined that they were being served platitudes and lies by their interview subjects, Wynn decided to look deeper than trite answers such as "hard work" and "empowerment".
What he found was that successful people used what talents and capacities they had to give them an advantage, and then used these to beat the competition. Even personality traits such as shyness, a foreign accent or being nosy could be used to advantage. "Most successful business people get where they are because they have a secret advantage, and they're not afraid to use it."
The book encourages readers to determine their own advantages, fair or unfair, and shows that by using them creatively, success in business can be achieved.
