The Rain Desert was a restaurant and nightclub that opened in Danielson, Connecticut in July, 2001. The brainchild of artist Jan Goldstein, the establishment was envisioned as a 100 seat state -of-the-art musical performance center. Perhaps the first of it's kind, The Rain Desert was designed to function as a live internet TV studio which broadcast it's featured shows on the Paltalk chat program.
While routinely featuring local and regional acts, The Rain Desert also hosted shows by some famous acts including Country Joe McDonald, Max Creek, Buddy Cage, Bouchard, Dunaway, Smith (with members of Alice Cooper and Blue Oyster Cult), The David Nelson Band and The New Riders Of The Purple Sage (NRPS).
The original Rain Desert closed it's doors in the Spring of 2005. In it's five year life it had received a surprisingly high amount of national press, including Relix Magazine and The New York Times. There currently exists a larger library of video shot at the Rain Desert at youtube.
