The New Faces of Jazz

The New Faces of Jazz is a popular radio show on the campus of the University of South Florida hosted by Jarryd Dollard and Greg Johnson. The show currently airs on every Thursday night at 9pm EST from Tampa, Florida.
Show Format
The instrumental version of Jay-Z's song Encore currently opens the show as a bed for the hosts to talk over. Show topics are usually revealed in the form of a story as the show progresses. Special guests who appear on the show are usually the first to voice their opinion on the specific topic of the night. Guests are also encouraged to call in to the show and voice their opinion as well. The Good Night Line is another popular prop of the show where guests can call in and say good night to a family member, friend, or spouse live on the air at any time during the show. Although the Good Night Line is opened and available at the beginning of the show, the majority of calls on the Good Night Line occur toward the show's end.
The Hosts
Jarryd Dollard is constantly referred to as "Mr. Smooth Jazz" throughout the show because of his popularity and excellence at playing the saxophone. He is currently a member of Advanced Soundz, a band composed of passionate musicians who perform at various events within the Tampa Bay area. The audience also knows that Jarryd's favorite saxophonist is Kirk Whalum, due to the fact that his co-host, Greg Johnson always mentions it right before a Kirk Whalum track is played. Dollard is a graduate of Dr. Michael M. Krop High School in Miami, Florida and is currently studying Accounting and Jazz Studies at the University of South Florida.
Greg Johnson is the show's co-host. He and Jarryd grew up together in Miami, Florida and attended both elementary and middle school together. Johnson's love for jazz developed after he acknowledged Dollard's passion for playing the saxophone. At the time of the show's beginning, Johnson was currently the programming director of an online radio station and was asked by Dollard to co-host the current jazz show. It is known by the audience that Johnson's favorite song is Green Tomatoes by trumpet player Rick Braun. Johnson is a graduate of Miami Northwestern Senior High School in Miami, Florida and is currently studying Accounting at the University of South Florida.
