The Karlz are a mid-west cover band who "cover everything from The Beatles to Beck"
Biography "Consisting of vocalist/guitarist Todd Bowie and drummer Doug Corella, The Karlz play rousing, energetic cover versions of songs both old and new that appeal to a vast audience. These two veteran musicians have years of professional experience under their belts. Longtime member of The Verve Pipe (with ..1 hit The Freshman), Corella now uses his music degree to teach in the Chicago school system. Bowies last 20 years have been spent touring as a guitar tech with the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Beck, and The Flaming Lips, as well as playing guitar in Joe Walshs solo band. They now combine their talents as Karl and Carl and the results are guaranteed to raise the roof off your club or next event. Embracing modern technology, Bowie plays and records backing tracks (bass, keys, etc.) in a recording studio. He then utilizes his iPod as a third band member, creating a fuller live sound without having to share a cut of the door or backseat of the tour van with an obnoxious band-mate. With Corella behind good old-fashioned acoustic drums and Bowie on his Les Paul, The Karlz deliver a high-powered, engaging,, and entertaining show--not a bit like a typical Ramada Inn duo--and theyll play the songs youll love to hear live, that many bands dont have the resources to play. Drawing on a four-decade catalog of Top 40 hits, The Karlz are as comfortable playing The Beatles, Bee Gees, or Led Zeppelin as they are Beck or Outkast. Depending on the age and demographic of their audience, the two astute musicians are capable of shifting gears to create the perfect set list for their audience. Whether youre looking for a band that can nail the funk from the 70s, bring on the disco, or deliver the rock, The Karlz are the band that will get your audience on their feet and shakin their money makers."
