The Jewish Internet Defense Force (JIDF) is an online grassroots organization which seeks to remove from the web hateful anti-Semitic and anti-Israel content that "clearly promotes violence and Islamic terrorism." The group has focused its attention specifically on Facebook, YouTube, Google Earth, and . JIDF itself started as a group on Facebook entitled, "FACEBOOK: Why do you aid and abet terrorist organizations?" It aggressively mobilized its members to bring to the attention of Facebook administrators the insidious existence of over 100 Facebook groups espousing rabidly hateful, genocidal, and violent doctrines (a violation of Facebook's own terms of use), successfully leading to the closure of these groups. In a response to an earlier version of this article, the JIDF emphasized that it does not protest "legitimate anti-Israel content" such as policy critiques of the state of Israel, but rather it protests doctrines denying the existence of Israel, clearly anti-Semitic content, or content which promotes violence and Islamic terrorism."
