The IUP Dating Game

The IUP Dating Game
Known as the show that WIUP-TV doesn't want to acknowledge, The IUP Dating Game aired on WIUP-TV from the fall of 2003 until the Spring of 2005. The show was hosted by Bryan Isacoff during the First Year, and then was hosted by Dave Frye for the second year. The show is the same as the Original Dating Game that aired on national television in the 1960's and 1970's.
GAMEPLAY
One Bachelor/Bachlorettes chooses from 3 suitors/suitorettes compared the actual network TV version that generally have the bachelorette would ask questions written in advance on cards to each of the three hidden bachelors. The same question could be asked to multiple bachelors. This continued until time ran out. The bachelorette would make her choice based solely on the answers to her questions. Once in a while, the bachelor would ask questions to three bachelorettes.
Certain kinds of questions were "off-limits", such name, age, occupation and income.
The show had a cult following from many students and other people who had the station for both years.
Isacoff's Year (Fall 2003-Spring 2004)
Bryan Isacoff was the host for the first year. Isacoff had no co-host for his year. Isacoff left after one year due to him graduating at the end of the Spring 2004 semester.
Frye's Year (Fall 2004-Spring 2005)
Dave Frye was named host from the Fall of 2004 to the Spring of 2005. Frye's uncanny sense of humor made him a cult hit among people who watched with his irreverent comedy style he brought to the show. Frye had 2 co-hosts during his tenure. Originally, Frye may have not been the shows emcee and would have gone to Megan Bryson, who became Frye's second banana instead after Frye's powerhouse audition for the show. Bryson left the show after the Fall 2004 season to pursue a modeling career. Brynn Cunningham joined the show in the Spring of 2005. Brynn stayed with the show until its last episode. Frye had stated to people saying, "I was much more comfortable with Brynn by my side on this show. She played to my jokes much better than Bryson". The show ended after the Spring 2005 Semester due to frye looking at doing another show and the partially due to his irreverence of comedy for the show.

Trivia
Frye was looking for another project at IUP to work on, that project never surfaced.
It is rumored that Frye was drunk for one taping of an episode of the Dating Game. Frye vehemently denies it ever happening but then later retracted regretting doing the show under the influence of alcohol. The show's producer, Chris Garritano was livid with Frye after seeing his face on tape seeing that he was inebriated on the show. The episode did air accidentally the following week to his credit gathering a bigger audience of students watching.
There is also presumably a recording of a gag episode not meant for air with foul language and some nudity. That has been confirmed. Frye was not the host, and switched places with his producer having him host with crew members as the contestants.

Other Information
The show did win an award as best show both years it was on the air. Frye also won as best male host for his 1 year stint on the show. It was a rare occasion for Dave as a freshman rarely wins best host their first year on-air.
Frye left IUP in 2007 to contemplate his choices in college. He later returned in the spring of 2009 to school at California University of Pennsylvania finishing up his degree for Television/Radio production. He is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2010. He currently resides in his hometown of Monongahela, PA.
All episodes are presumed to exist on tape. Frye is currently trying to get those episodes at this time from IUP if they are still available.
