The Horstmann Technique is a body-mind-spirit alternative therapy developed by Australian Patricia (Trish) Trowbridge in the 1990s. This technique is used mainly in Australia, Sweden, Finland and USA.<ref name=GoodMedicine /> Patricia Janet Trowbridge Trish was born and grew up in South Australia. In 1979 she had an accident and ended up in hospital with a severe spinal injury. She chose to start working on herself with alternative therapies instead of surgery. In 1987 she became a herbalist. Before that she studied remedial massage, reflexology, clinical hypnotherapy and nutrition. From 1990 she had a practice in Crookwell, New South Wales.<ref nameLifeSpirit /> In 1994, a few years after a near death experience that changed her life,<ref nameGoodMedicine /><ref nameLifeSpirit /> she developed the first modality of the Horstmann Technique. (Horstmann is Trish’s maiden name<ref nameGoodMedicine /><ref name=LifeSpirit />). Since then, several more modalities have been developed, now called the Horstmann System. She has been a member of ATMS (Australian Traditional Medicine Society) since 1987. She is also a member of National Federation of Healers (Australia). Today she lives in Tasmania where she is running the company together with her business partner Marie Myrander and conducting a small clinic.
