The Golden Truth

The Golden Truth is a professional wrestling tag team performing in WWE, consisting of Goldust and R-Truth, on the Raw brand. Both wrestlers competed for WWE in the early 2000s (known at the time as the World Wrestling Federation) during its Attitude Era. In early 2016, both wrestlers unsuccessfully attempted to convince each other to form a tag team until May 2016 when the duo began teaming together as "The Golden Truth".
History
From January 2016, during various episodes of Raw and SmackDown, Goldust approached and propose they form a tag team, to no avail. At Fastlane, Goldust would inadvertently cost Truth his match against Curtis Axel. After multiple attempts from Goldust, always ending with Truth denying his request, Truth began to apologize and attempt to form a tag team with Goldust, this time with Goldust denying Truth. On the April 11 episode of Raw, Shane McMahon announced a number one contenders tournament for the WWE Tag Team Championship, which included Goldust and Truth teaming together. However, on the April 14 episode of SmackDown, Goldust told Truth before their match they would not team together, with Goldust instead teaming with Fandango, where they were defeated by The Vaudevillains in the first round.
A week later, Truth aligned himself with Tyler Breeze due to Goldust's alliance with Fandango. On the May 2 episode of Raw, Breeze defeated Goldust after an interference by Truth. A week later on Raw, Truth defeated Fandango with Breeze in Truth's corner. On the May 12 episode of SmackDown, Truth and Breeze were scheduled to face Goldust and Fandango. During the match, Truth and Goldust refused to fight each other. As a result, Breeze and Fandango attacked Goldust as Fandango allowed Breeze to pin Goldust for the win.
The next week on Raw, Truth and Goldust, now billed as "The Golden Truth", teamed up against Breezango (Fandango and Breeze) in a losing effort after Truth unintentionally kicked Goldust. Afterwards, Golden Truth started a losing streak, losing to the likes of Breezango and The Dudley Boyz. Golden Truth earned their first victory after defeating Breezango at the Money in the Bank event on June 19. On the July edition of Raw, the Golden Truth defeated The Vaudevillians. On July 19, at the 2016 WWE Draft, The Golden Truth was drafted to Raw. After some success as a team, Truth's mental illness returned and he started obsessing over the popular game, Pokémon Go, costing the duo a match when Goldust was unable to tag him in.
