The Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Improviser

Overview

The Improviser is the school newspaper at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville Florida. It features editorial columns and news regarding the school's awards and policies. The Improviser is headed by English teacher Denise Dvorak.

The issues are published on a roughly monthly basis. The Improviser has won several high school Journalism awards and anticipates taking an annual trip to New York for a high school journalism conference.

During the 2007-2008 school year, the Improviser staff decided to expand on the common "fluff" articles the school paper had previously published. However, they would not completely separate their paper from Douglas Anderson events nor only publish serious articles. Statics such as Christina Csensich's Keeping Up With the Candidates and Robb Tabone's Thinking Theology would be balanced with the A&E page reviews of Matt Landsman and the Improviser's comic dADD created by Charlie Hafer.
